The Chairman of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Aliko Dangote, has accused Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), of corruption and living beyond his means.
Dangote alleged that Ahmed spent $5 million, which is approximately 7.2 billion naira, on six years of secondary school fees for four of his children at an unnamed Swiss school.

Dangote made the serious allegation during a media briefing at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery on Sunday, December 14. The accusation comes amidst a public feud between the refinery, and the NMDPRA, the body responsible for regulating the Nigerian downstream sector.
The billionaire stated that such lavish expenditure by a public servant raises serious questions about potential conflicts of interest and the integrity of the regulatory body.
I don’t know why the authority chief executive, Mallam Farouk, has four of his children that he educated in Switzerland at the cost of $5 million for their secondary school education alone, not university…And I know that one of them just finished Harvard. My children went to a Nigerian secondary school. They didn’t go outside Nigeria to attend secondary school. So, I want to see what kind of system we are operating that people are now busy destroying a country, taking money from the government, because his income does not match paying this kind of fees – Dangote
Dangote called on the Federal Government to investigate Ahmed’s income against his expenditure, stating that the Code of Conduct Bureau or other appropriate body should look into the matter.
Dangote threatened to sue the Swiss schools to disclose Ahmed’s tuition payments if the CEO denies the corruption allegation, stating he would not only publish the amount but also disclose other related information.
He insisted the purpose of the investigation is for Ahmed to clear his name and prove he has not compromised his positions in government at the cost of Nigerians.
