The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, intercepted a Mercedes-Benz truck carrying 38 male passengers in Akure on Sunday.
The vehicle, which was coming from the northern part of the country, was stopped during a routine security operation in the Cathedral area of the state capital.
During interrogation, none of the 38 passengers could provide a specific address or a credible reason for their visit to Ondo State.
One passenger was found in possession of a uniform with the inscription “Commander” and various charms. He claimed to be a hunter but could not explain his mission in the state.
The driver and conductor of the truck, aged 20 and 19 respectively, claimed they were only providing transportation to individuals picked up along the route and had no relationship with the passengers. The passengers themselves claimed they were traveling to meet their relatives but lacked contact details of their destination.
The Amotekun Command announced that all passengers are undergoing thorough profiling. Those cleared of criminal intent will be returned to their states of origin, while any found culpable of crimes will face prosecution.
