The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a nationwide ban on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) across all public and private secondary schools.

The directive, issued by the Federal Ministry of Education, is scheduled to take effect from the 2026/2027 academic session in order to give schools enough time to adjust their enrollment procedures.

‎The ban is targeted at addressing the growing concerns by the Ministry of Education over the surge of examination malpractice, where parents enroll their children to special centres (Miracle centres) shortly before external examinations.

‎These centers are built solely for organized cheating and fraudulent activities, which according to education stakeholders, undermines the integrity and credibility of the education system of the country.

‎The new policy restricts all admissions and transfers strictly to SS1 and SS2. According to the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry, Boriowo Folasade, the measure is aimed at discouraging last-minute movement of students for examination-related advantages, in order to ensure proper academic monitoring, and promoting continuity in teaching and learning.

‎The Federal Ministry of Education has directed all school proprietors, principals, and administrators nationwide to ensure full compliance, warning that any violation will attract sanctions.
