Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has faulted President Bola Tinubu for failing to provide effective leadership in addressing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity. He raised these concerns during a recent discussion with political figures from Borno State.
The dialogue took place with a delegation led by Mohammed Kumaila, a former House of Representatives member, who visited Atiku to discuss the alarming security situation primarily in the northern regions. Atiku revealed in a social media statement, that the meeting’s central focus was the deteriorating safety conditions affecting communities across North East, North West, and North Central states.
At last night’s gathering, I welcomed political stakeholders from Borno State, headed by Hon. Mohammed Kumaila. It is heartening to observe an increasing number of leaders nationwide dedicating their attention to the country’s deepening crisis and working tirelessly toward solutions…it is unacceptable that armed groups continue to take control of communities, charging illegal fees and halting farming activities. I am convinced that with the right leadership, our security forces can overcome these threats
Participants agreed that the persistent occupation of Nigerian territories by bandits and terrorists signifies a breakdown in leadership, especially under the current APC administration led by Tinubu. The illegal groups have been imposing extortion levies on residents and disrupting agrarian activities, causing severe hardship.
Atiku expressed confidence that with decisive political guidance, Nigeria’s security agencies have the capacity to reclaim affected areas and restore stability. He stressed the urgent need for national unity to confront the challenges head-on.
Atiku thanked the Borno delegation for their commitment to the nation’s future and pledged his support for collaborative programs aimed at reviving peace and economic growth across Nigeria.
