Jigawa State, on Wednesday marked its 34th anniversary with Governor Malam Umar Namadi appealing to citizens to stay loyal and actively contribute to the state’s continuous transformation through a series of development programs.
Though established relatively recently in 1991, Jigawa has recorded remarkable advancements thanks to persistent efforts by successive administrations. Governor Namadi pointed to the expansion of infrastructure as a major achievement, with key road networks being completed and initiated across the state.

In addition, the current administration has introduced over 60 empowerment schemes aimed at creating jobs for youths and women, positively impacting over 300,000 beneficiaries in just two years. Education in the state, has never been neglected, with the establishment of seven higher education institutions, including two universities owned by the state, broadening access to tertiary learning.
Healthcare improvements are evident, as every one of Jigawa’s 27 local government areas now has at least one secondary health center, complemented by three institutions dedicated to health training to enhance medical services delivery.
Despite these gains, the governor acknowledged challenges such as a high number of children out of school, the reliance on subsistence farming, and unutilized young talent. He stressed the importance of collective effort and a shared sense of responsibility to overcome these obstacles.
The governor expressed confidence in the administration’s comprehensive 12-Point Agenda to accelerate socioeconomic growth. He encouraged residents to remain united and devoted to advancing the state’s welfare, emphasizing that the future of Jigawa depends on the commitment of its people.
