‎Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is scheduled to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, January 2.

‎In his resignation letter, Mutfwang stressed the need for purposeful leadership and clarity of direction as his primary reason for seeking an alternative political platform.

‎The defection is a heavy blow to the PDP, which has seen significant numbers of its sitting governors defected to the APC. Rumors about Mutfwang defection were announced prematurely by the APC leadership in mid-December.

‎Mutfwang formally ended his association with the PDP by withdrawing from his ward in Mangu LGA on Monday.

‎The Governor stated that the move is designed to better align Plateau State with the development goals and policies of the Federal Government.

‎“I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform to participate in the political process… [this step] will better align the state’s development objectives with the policies of the Federal Government – Governor Caleb Mutfwang

‎A formal registration ceremony is scheduled for Friday morning at the Victoria Gowon Hall in the State Government House.
