The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a downward review of the Hajj fare for the 2026 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
The reduction follows a directive from President Bola Tinubu, conveyed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, to adjust the cost in light of the improved exchange rate of the Naira against the US Dollar.

The revised fare will now range from N7,579,020.96 to N7,991,141.76, depending on the departure zone of pilgrims. The largest reduction, amounting to N792,943.83, was recorded for pilgrims in the Southern Zone, from the initial provisional fare of over N8.7 million.
The cost of the Hajj pilgrimage, has been a major source of concern in Nigeria due to the volatile foreign exchange rate. A significant portion of the fare, covering services in Saudi Arabia (such as accommodation, transport, and visa fees), is dollar-denominated. Earlier provisional fares were based on a weaker exchange rate, creating financial strain for intending pilgrims.
The presidential intervention, following the appreciation of the Naira, aims to ensure that Nigerian pilgrims directly benefit from the positive outcome of the government’s economic reforms.
Pilgrims are urged to make the full payment by December 5, 2025, to finalize preparations and secure their slots.
