Portugal and Al Nassr striker Cristiano Ronaldo is set to become the first male footballer to reach 1,000 career goals, following an impressive scoring run that currently stands at 948 across club and international matches as of October 2025.
Ronaldo’s scoring form, seen by a recent brace against Hungary in the World Cup qualifiers, has brought him to the cusp of a unique footballing record. With 805 goals at club level and 143 for the Portuguese national team, the 40-year-old continues to defy aging norms, showing remarkable consistency.
Playing in Saudi Arabia’s league with Al Nassr, Ronaldo has scored 104 goals in 117 appearances over four seasons.
Since 2010, Ronaldo has averaged more than 50 goals per year, with his highest tally in 2013 when he netted 69 goals and secured the Ballon d’Or. Despite his age, his scoring rate remains formidable, aided by the comparatively less challenging opposition in Saudi Arabia.
He recently surpassed Carlos Ruiz as the top scorer in World Cup qualifying history with 39 goals. The football community envisioned Ronaldo, with two years left on his Al Nassr contract, to cross the 1,000-goal threshold by October 2026 if his current pace holds.
