Dangote Cement officially began operations at its new facility in Attingué, about 30 kilometres from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday, aiming to produce 3 million tonnes of cement annually and support the country’s infrastructure growth.
The 50-hectare plant is one of the largest Dangote Cement facilities outside Nigeria. With an estimated investment of 100 billion CFA francs, the plant embodies a commitment to transforming local resources into world-class products.
This facility makes Ivory Coast the eleventh African nation to host a Dangote Cement production unit.
The launch anticipates creating over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, benefiting young people in Ivory Coast and the ecosystem of small and medium enterprises, including transporters, building tradespeople, retailers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Speaking at the launch, Serge Gbotta, Managing Director of Dangote Cement Ivory Coast, said, the company is set to offer Ivorians internationally-standard cement, produced locally, at a competitive price. He added that the Attingué plant is not just an industrial unit but a symbol of the future of Ivory Coast and her commitment to sustainable development alongside local communities.
