The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a fresh public warning against Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff member accused of impersonating the agency to scam unsuspecting Nigerians.

‎In a statement posted on its official X handle, @OfficialDSSNG, the DSS identified Godwin as engaging in “unscrupulous activities” involving the misuse of the Service’s name for fraudulent purposes.

‎The agency cautioned the public to avoid any dealings with him and to direct all official inquiries through verified DSS communication channels.

‎This warning comes just four days after the DSS alerted Nigerians about Barry Donald, another dismissed officer reported to be impersonating the Service.

‎Founded in 1986, the DSS is Nigeria’s domestic intelligence and security agency tasked with internal security and counterintelligence. Its constant vigilance aims to protect the public and maintain trust in its operations.

‎The DSS reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public trust and promised to take strict action against impersonators. It advised the public to always verify official contacts before responding to claims of DSS affiliation. The agency plans to increase public awareness campaigns to reduce fraud attempts linked to impersonation.
