The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, has neutralised 103 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during a series of coordinated air strikes across Adamawa and Borno states.
The military airstrikes, executed between October 10 and 18, 2026, targeted terrorist enclaves around Gudumbali, Badu, and Mairari in Guzamala and Monguno Local Government Areas. The airstrike also hit Duste Uku in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, as well as the alternate residence of the ISWAP Wali of South Lake Chad, Abu Saleem, located in Arina Woje.
The Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, issued a formal statement in Maiduguri on Monday, stating that the offensive was designed to dismantle terrorist networks and restrict their free movement across the North-East.
Captain Goni explained that the execution involved combined assets from the Nigerian Army Aviation, the Nigerian Army Remotely Piloted Aircraft (NARPAS) Regiment, and the Air Component platforms.
On October 18, an intelligence-led precision strike hit Abu Saleem’s alternate residence following extensive surveillance and reconnaissance activities, also leading to the death of Jindullah, a prominent ISWAP fighter serving as the commander’s chief security guard, and Abul Kissa, a member of the Shura Council, alongside several other fighters.
“The strike also destroyed the targeted structure and logistics assets, including nine boat engines and several motorcycles stored at the premises. The operation disrupted the group’s concealment arrangements in the forested area, weakening its ability to use the location as a safe haven.”
Earlier, on October 13, military aviation units tracked 16 insurgents from the Mairari axis to a gathering of over 100 fighters. The terrorists, accompanied by multiple motorcycles, had assembled approximately 23 kilometres east of Badu and 19 kilometres west of Monguno.
A precision strike on the gathering neutralised about 30 terrorists instantly, although according to the military, the exact extent of damage to their operational motorcycles remained unconfirmed.
The seven coordinated operations resulted in the deaths of 103 terrorists and the total destruction of several logistics hubs, degrading ISWAP’s operational capacity.
