Local hunters in Kano State have successfully neutralised two suspected bandits and recovered a ₦10 million ransom during an ambush.

The encounter occurred within the Falgore Forest in Doguwa Local Government Area, after the release of a 45-year-old kidnapped victim.

The victim, identified as Kabiru Aliyu, was abducted from Falgore Village on September 11, 2026. Shortly after the kidnappers collected the ₦10 million ransom and released him unharmed at about midnight on Saturday, the local hunters, known as Yan Bula, intercepted the criminal syndicate as they attempted to flee into the forest.

The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Haruna Kiyawa, commended the hunters for complementing ongoing police operations against non-states actors.

He added that preliminary investigations identified one of the slain suspects as Dogo Isah, a commercial motorcyclist from Maigwanda Village in Kaduna State.

“During the ambush, two of the suspected bandits were neutralised, while the third suspect escaped with injuries. The entire ransom sum of ₦10 million was recovered intact from the neutralised suspects.”

After the joint operations, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, directed tactical teams and Divisional Police Officers to comb the surrounding communities to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
