Man accuses girlfriend of diverting ₦280,000 birthday gift to pay lover’s rent

A Nigerian university student has recounted a bitter ordeal of how his former girlfriend, identified as Stephanie, allegedly diverted a ₦280,000 birthday gift to pay the house rent of another man.

The aggrieved man disclosed that he sacrificed his 200-level tuition fees to fund the celebration just days before uncovering the betrayal.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the Gistandjuice podcast, he explained that he withdrew ₦250,000 from his school fees savings and added ₦30,000 from his monthly allowance to gift the lady.

“I sacrificed my 200-level school fees for her birthday. I gave her ₦250,000 from my school fees savings and added ₦30,000 from my monthly allowance.”

Days later, while relaxing after a match at a football pitch, he overheard an acquaintance bragging about how a woman saved him from eviction by paying his ₦260,000 rent.

The situation escalated when the acquaintance proudly shared pictures and videos of the woman moving his belongings into the new apartment. According to him, he was left in shock upon recognising the woman in the footage as his girlfriend, Stephanie.

After the revelation, he narrated that the exact funds he provided for her birthday were used to secure the apartment for her secret lover. He has since called out the ex-girlfriend publicly, praying that she faces serious retribution for her actions.
