Former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has died at the age of 71. The former governor, who steered the affairs of the oil-rich state between 2007 and 2015, passed away on Monday morning.
The Uduaghan family confirmed the development in an official statement signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the political leader and father figure.
“His passing has left us devastated. Words can hardly express the depth of our sorrow at the loss of a man who meant so much to our family and whose life and service touched countless others across Delta State and Nigeria”.
Before his election as the state’s chief executive, Uduaghan served as the Delta State Commissioner for Health from 1999 to 2003, and subsequently as the Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007.
The family stated that his public service career was defined by a steady commitment to both human and infrastructural development in Delta State, urging friends, political associates, and well-wishers to pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.
