‎‎The Nigerian Super Eagles have safely arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, following a mid-air scare that forced their chartered flight to make an emergency return to Luanda, Angola, on Saturday.

‎The national football team was traveling from Polokwane, South Africa, to Uyo ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Benin Republic when their aircraft suffered a cracked windscreen shortly after departing from Luanda, where it had briefly stopped to refuel.

‎The plane was forced to turn back to Luanda Airport, but the pilot’s calm and expert handling ensured the safety of everyone onboard. No injuries were reported.

‎Following the incident, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) acted swiftly, arranging for another plane to transport the team from Lagos to Uyo.

‎This unexpected delay has momentarily disrupted the team’s schedule, but the Super Eagles remain focused on their upcoming match, a key fixture that could define Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup.
