Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, received motivations from Moses Aduku, the head coach of the U-20 Falconets, ahead of their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup campaign in Morocco starting October 19.
Aduku visited the Flamingos’ training camp in Abuja on Monday, urging the young players to stay focused, united, and disciplined as they prepare to make history for Nigeria on the global stage.
He emphasised that their World Cup performance would not only shape their careers but also shows the progress of Nigerian women’s football.
The Flamingos with a stellar record, having won all ten pre-tournament matches with an impressive tally of 44 goals and none conceded. Aduku praised the team and the efforts of their technical crew led by Bankole Olowookere, describing their unbeaten streak as clear sign they are ready for the challenge
Ameenu Mohammed, a Nigeria Football Federation Referee Assessor and Special Assistant to the NFF General Secretary, provided the team with a vital session on the latest international football regulations. Mohammed stressed that mastering the rules is crucial to avoid costly mistakes in high-pressure matches.
The Flamingos are set to leave for Morocco on Wednesday via Royal Air Maroc. Drawn in Group D, they will open the tournament against Canada on October 19, followed by games against France on October 22 and Samoa on October 25.
