Security agencies across Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo states have intensified security steps to prevent the spillover of bandit attacks from Kwara State following a recent surge in violence and killings there.
Over the past few weeks, Kwara has witnessed diverse terrorist raids targeting communities such as Oke-Ode, Edu, Patigi, and others, resulting in numerous deaths, abductions, and mass displacement of residents.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned the attacks and pledged increased military deployment in affected areas. During a visit to Oke-Ode on Thursday, he commiserated with victims and affirmed efforts to restore security.
Oyo’s Amotekun Corps Commandant Colonel Olayinka Olayanju reassured residents, stating, that the corps is well-prepared for any bandits’ attack.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, offered support to Kwara’s government and condemned the violence, calling for justice and peaceful coexistence among ethnic groups.
The Osun and Ondo State police have deployed tactical teams and increased surveillance along their borders. Ekiti State has also mobilized military and paramilitary personnel to block potential bandit entry points. Ekiti’s Special Adviser on Security, Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana, stressed efforts with neighboring states and expressed confidence in current operations.
Meanwhile, The Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa urged the identification and neutralization of criminal elements threatening regional peace. Speaking at the closing of Exercise Haske Biyu, he emphasized community cooperation and regional collaboration as essential to long lasting security.
