The Nigerian Air Force neutralized more than 25 insurgents during a night-time aerial assault across Bula in Yobe State and the Banki area of Borno on September 18. The operation was launched following critical intelligence gathered by ground forces.

According to a statement issued by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, the mission involved an integrated deployment of surveillance and combat aircraft. Utilizing Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets, the force successfully tracked insurgent movements and pinpointed several hostile groups encamped north of Banki.

Real-time intelligence feeds were continuously relayed to units on the ground and command centers, allowing for well-timed, coordinated responses. The strike aircraft executed three consecutive precision attacks on enemy routes and rally points, effectively dismantling the terrorist contingents.

Ejodame confirmed that post-attack reconnaissance indicated that ground troops were securely positioned without any further engagements detected.

This recent success follows another tragic episode reported on September 8, when Boko Haram militants assaulted the Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area, killing at least 63 civilians and five military personnel. The attackers advanced by motorcycles, indiscriminately firing and setting fire to homes and vehicles before reinforcements could respond. Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum described the attack as “very sad”, confirming the casualties.

Military sources indicate that further coordinated actions are planned to sustain pressure on insurgent groups and reinforce national security.
