Senator Ahmed Wadada, the representative for Nasarawa West, has officially ended his affiliation with the Social Democratic Party (SDP), citing ongoing internal conflicts within the organization as his reason.
His resignation was communicated through a formal letter to the party Chairman in Keffi Local Government Area.
In a correspondence marked “Notification of resignation from the Social Democratic Party (SDP)”, Wadada declared his immediate departure from the platform he had been associated with. The letter conveyed his unease with the factional disputes that have long troubled the political outfit, resulting in deep divisions and multiple legal battles.
Wadada expressed gratitude for the opportunities and connections fostered during his time with the party but indicated that it was time for him to pursue different paths. This new development comes after his recent positive remarks regarding the administration of President Bola Tinubu. After visiting the State House, the senator dismissed assertions that the African Democratic Congress could field a candidate capable of eclipsing Tinubu’s accomplishments.
Wadada suggested the possibility of rejoining the All Progressives Congress (APC), reminding the public of his prior involvement as a national officer within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before shifting allegiances to the APC and latterly the SDP.
He clarified that his decision to leave was not prompted by personal complaints against his former party but rather by the natural changes that come with political evolution.
I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign… This has not been taken lightly, but I feel compelled due to the persistent internal challenges that have shaken our party. My departure is not due to any grievance but the dynamism of life itself. It’s time to explore new opportunities and avenues…claims that ADC can produce a leader to surpass President Tinubu’s achievements do not hold water in my view, based on my recent observations at the State House – Wadada
Senator Wadada’s political journey enters an uncertain phase, with his resignation finalized, but with clear indications that he may revisit former alignments within Nigeria’s political spectrum.
