The Federal Government has sent fresh relief items to the Tudun Biri community in Kaduna State, months after a drone strike mistakenly killed civilians and damaged property.

The aid delivery, made on Wednesday, was part of ongoing efforts to support survivors and rebuild the affected area. Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, led the handover on behalf of the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

Among the items presented to residents were two motorcycles, a generator, floodlights, microphones, and a power amplifier mixer. Beneficiaries such as Isuwa Haruna, Ridwan Yakubu, and Isah Ahmed received these materials as part of measures recommended by a federal delegation that assessed the community’s needs after the incident.

Maj.-Gen. Saraso described the December 2023 drone strike as an unfortunate consequence of military operations targeting bandits in the area. “Tragically, the strike resulted in the loss of innocent lives and destruction of property,” he said. He offered renewed condolences on behalf of the army, emphasizing that the military remains dedicated to supporting the community’s recovery.

Saraso highlighted that the aid was more than material support — it was intended to restore confidence and strengthen ties with the people of Tudun Biri. “This is not just about items; it is about rebuilding trust, healing, and continuing our engagement with the people,” he explained, assuring that the army would sustain its assistance programs.

Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr James Kanyip, also addressed the community, pledging the state government’s unwavering commitment to helping victims rebuild their lives. He praised the military’s efforts, noting that both state and federal authorities remain focused on long-term rehabilitation and peace-building in the region.
