Ben Murray-Bruce, founder of the Silverbird Group and former Nigerian senator, has warned that World War III is inevitable due to rising global tensions, widespread violence, and reckless leadership.

Speaking during an interview with global affairs expert Dane Waters, Murray-Bruce expressed grave concern over the state of world affairs, citing the easy access to weapons and the presence of “trigger-happy” leaders as a dangerous combination. “As long as we have the kind of leaders we have today, I see World War III coming, and it’s going to be terrible,” he said.

Despite his dire prediction, Murray-Bruce believes that Africa, and Nigeria in particular, will avoid the devastation of a global conflict. He pointed to Nigeria’s peaceful stance, absence of nuclear ambitions, and friendly relations with neighboring countries as reasons why the nation would remain untouched. “Nobody is going to be fighting in Nigeria because we have no territorial ambitions, we have no desire to acquire nuclear weapons, we don’t want to fight anybody,” he remarked.

Murray-Bruce went further to suggest that Nigeria could become a refuge for people displaced by the conflict, including Americans, Israelis, and Iranians. “We’ll be happy to welcome them to Nigeria. We’ll make sure you all have your visas because we don’t want you to come as immigrants. We’re going to treat you well when you come visit us,” he added.

Reflecting on history, Murray-Bruce compared the current global climate to the periods preceding past major wars. He referenced World War I, World War II, and other conflicts as examples of how unstable leadership can lead to catastrophic outcomes. “It’s the leaders that cause the war, not the people,” he emphasized, blaming despots and reckless politicians for pushing the world toward conflict.

His remarks come at a time of heightened tensions, particularly in the Middle East, where conflict between Iran and Israel has escalated, prompting fears of broader unrest.
