Prominent Islamic theologians and academics from Saudi Arabia, the United States, Malaysia, and several other nations have arrived in Lagos for a four-day international summit.
Hosted by the Daaru Na’im Academy for Shariah Sciences, the conference aims to establish a sound Islamic creed as a prerequisite for social stability and to counter the rise of extremist ideologies across the continent.
Over 20,000 participants are attending physically at the Igando grounds in Lagos, with thousands more joining virtually from Europe and North America.
Delegates include representatives from the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Islamic institutions from the United States and Asia.
To accommodate the international audience, sessions are being conducted and translated into Arabic, English, French, Hausa, and Yoruba.
