Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) intercepted two Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), pick-up vans loaded with essential logistics on Friday. The interception took place along the route from Dapchi, Yobe State, toward the Magumeri area of Borno State, after receiving credible intelligence.
The military confirmed that the vans were transporting spare parts and food items intended to sustain terrorists in the Lake Chad region.
As the 2026 budget proposes ₦5.41 trillion for security, the military is already moving forward with plans to implement its strategy in cutting off the supply lines that allow insurgents to survive in remote areas.
The military has turned local informants into a human radar, by working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), to track suspicious commercial movements that bypass traditional markets
Beyond mechanical parts, the seizure included survival gear including, mattresses, blankets, yam, flour, garri, and six mobile phones and a power bank.
Lt. Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, OPHK, during an interaction with the press stated that;
“This successful interception underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and the sustained collaboration between troops and local security partners in disrupting terrorist logistics networks
The drivers of the intercepted vans are currently in military custody. Interrogators are working to trace the financial trail of the cash recovered and identify the “middlemen” in Yobe markets who supplied the bulk mechanical parts.
