The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally ratified the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and ten other prominent party members, due to prolonged internal sabotage and anti-party activities.

The decision was announced on Tuesday by the National Chairman of the party’s faction, Kabiru Turaki (SAN), during a post-National Working Committee (NWC) briefing in Abuja. Turaki stated that the expulsion certificates have been sent to the affected individuals, which also include former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose and other officials.

This expulsion, formalizes a decision taken at the national convention in Ibadan on November 15, by the Turaki-led faction.

‎The expelled members include, Nyesom Wike (FCT Minister), Ayodele Fayose (Former Ekiti State Governor), Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Claiming to be National Secretary), Umaru Bature, Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), Abdurahman Muhammad, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah Nnanna, George Turna, and Chief Dan Orbih.

Turaki explained that the expulsion certificates are intended to notify institutions like INEC, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), DSS, and NSCDC that the affected individuals are no longer PDP members. The party warned the public that anyone who conducts business with the expelled members in the name of the PDP does so at their own risk.

They have been expelled. They remain expelled. We have now certified their expulsion, and these certificates have been sent to them. Very soon, members of the society will be informed via proper disclaimers that any person henceforth who decides to do business with them, any or all of them (in the name of the PDP), does so at his or her own risk – Kabiru Turaki (SAN)

‎The announcement occurs against a backdrop of ongoing conflict, including a violent clash between the two rival PDP camps at the national secretariat on November 18 and an existing court case filed by Wike’s camp challenging the legitimacy of the Ibadan convention.
