Gunmen suspected to be bandits abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Bagudu, on Friday in Bagudu town, his hometown.
According to eyewitness reports, the attackers stormed Bagudu Local Government Area, firing indiscriminately to create chaos. The Deputy Speaker was taken shortly after finishing his prayers at a local mosque and heading home.
Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, confirmed receiving the news late Friday evening.

Just days earlier, on Tuesday, October 28, bandits killed a pastor and abducted over 20 worshippers in Kaduna State. That incident, which took place in Farin Dutse community, where Rev. Yahaya Kambasiya was shot dead after gunmen open fire upon church members seeking refuge on a farm.
Government officials have pledged swift action to secure Deputy Speaker Bagudu’s release, while local communities remain on edge. The call for security operations across the northwest-northeast are on the high, as the region grapples with this crisis. The Kebbi State Police Command, at the time this report was published had not issued a statement.
