The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Kaduna State Chapter, has temporarily suspended its industrial action. The decision was reached following a high-level meeting held on Monday, October 27, 2025, involving JUSUN representatives, the Kaduna State government, and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
The suspension is provisional, pending the outcome of a follow-up meeting scheduled for Thursday.
The strike by judiciary workers had effectively halted legal proceedings and the administration of justice in Kaduna State, a common occurrence in the judicial systems where staff unions often strike over financial autonomy, welfare, or conditions of service.
The resolution to suspend the strike was documented in a communiqué jointly signed by key stakeholders, including Auwal Sarki, Chairman of JUSUN Kaduna Branch; James Kanyip, Attorney-General of Kaduna State; and officials from the NBA’s Kaduna and Barnawa branches.
The statement emphasized the need for dialogue and amicable resolution of the outstanding issues. The temporary suspension aims to create an environment for talks, with the next engagement scheduled for October 30, which will involve the JUSUN National Executive Council (NEC).
