Ex-Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika appointed Pro-Chancellor of Katsina varsity

Katsina State ‎Governor Dikko Radda has approved the appointment of former Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University (UMYU), Katsina.

The appointment is for a first one-year term and took effect in October 2025. The state government stated that the appointment recognizes Sirika’s outstanding qualities and proven record of performance.

Hadi Sirika is an aviator and politician who served as Minister of Aviation under the late President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2023, and previously as a Senator.
‎
However, the appointment is made amidst scrutiny concerning Sirika’s tenure as Aviation Minister. After leaving office in 2023, Sirika was investigated and subsequently charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with alleged multi-billion naira fraud schemes, including matters related to the proposed national carrier, Nigeria Air, which Sirika has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
