The Ondo State Command of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has suspended three of its officers for alleged gross misconduct and actions deemed to have tarnished the corps’ image. The officers have also been officially declared wanted to enable a proper investigation into their activities.

The Amotekun Corps was established by the governors of the southwestern states to serve as a regional security outfit. Its primary mandate is to address localized crimes such as kidnapping, banditry, and communal violence that often strain the capacity of federal security agencies.

State Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye made the announcement in Akure, stating that the officers’ activities had tarnished the image of the corps, and that they are officially declared wanted.

He added that the declaration is intended to facilitate a full investigation into their alleged activities, which he said involved being allegedly sponsored to malign and discredit the command on social media platforms.

‎In a related development in Osun State, a special squad of the Nigeria Police Force recently arrested approximately 20 Osun Amotekun operatives in connection with killings in the Akinlalu community. These events have raised eyebrows about the integrity of the membership of this security outfit in tackling criminal elements across the south-west region.
