The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria recently intercepted multiple consignments of illicit drugs concealed in frozen snails, electrical bulbs, and female clothing.
The drugs were destined for the United States, United Kingdom, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The seizures occurred at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) and a Lagos courier company.

‎Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of two key suspects, Boladale Riliwan, a cargo agent caught with 15 parcels of skunk cannabis hidden inside giant electrical bulbs, and Olawale Hakeemot, a UK-based public health assistant found carrying 2,300 tramadol pills concealed in frozen snails at MMIA’s Terminal 2.

Additional seizures included 810 bromazepam pills sent to the U.S., and 38,270 tramadol pills intercepted in Adamawa State, concealed in a vehicle coming from Benin Republic.

Cannabis fields in Ekiti and Ondo states were also destroyed, along with arrests of several suspects involved in drug trafficking across multiple states.

The NDLEA has been up to the task in its campaign of strengthening controls across borders and also dismantling drug peddling networks within and outside the country.
