Aishat Kamardeen, a teenager from Kwara State, has rejected claims that she was sexually assaulted by Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain and 2024 local government chairmanship candidate.

She described the accusations as false and politically motivated during a press conference in Ilorin on October 18, 2025.

Aishat, who will turn 18 in February 2026, explained that she sought financial support from Esinrogunjo solely to further her university education. Speaking alongside her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kamardeen, said Esinrogunjo promised assistance with no conditions attached.

‎I was never raped by anyone. The rumours circulating online are false and politically driven – Aishat

She confirmed meeting Esinrogunjo in his office after gaining university admission and emphasized that anyone doubtful could verify her admission at the University of Ilorin.

‎Aishat’s parents stressed their daughter’s good upbringing and dismissed the sexual assault claim as a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of the PDP chieftain, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo.

‎The father added that there is misinformation about her age, and that she will be 18 next year, not 15 as circulated on social media.

‎The controversy arose after a petition by the Global Hope for Women and Children Foundation led to Esinrogunjo being taken to court. The former chairmanship candidate faces charges of allegedly luring the teenager to his office in Odota, Ilorin, under false pretenses and assaulting her.

‎The Kamardeen family urges Nigerians to withhold judgment until the legal process concludes. Aishat and her parents hope the truth will clear their names and allow them to move forward peacefully.
