The Jigawa State Police Command arrested 153 suspects and confiscated a large quantity of illicit drugs, cash, and a motorcycle in an operation targeting criminal hideouts across the state on Monday, confirmed by officials.
The operation, which involved all 42 police divisions in Jigawa, focused on dismantling criminal networks and drug joints identified as hotspots for illegal activities. Police Public Relations Officer SP Shi’isu Adam disclosed strategies aimed to reduce crime and drug peddling in the state capital Dutse and other areas.
Among the seizures were over 3,100 Exol tablets, nearly 3,000 D5 tablets, about 1,800 Tramadol capsules, large amounts of cannabis, diazepam, rubber solution, syrup bottles, and pregabalin. Alongside the drugs, police recovered N228,570 in cash and a boxer motorcycle.
The detained individuals face charges linked to drug trafficking and possession, with court proceedings underway after thorough investigations.
SP Adam warned criminals to repent or face legal consequences while emphasizing on collaboration with communities to maintain peace and security in the state. The police continue to call on public cooperation as the fight against terrorism and drug peddling persist.
