Nigerian troops kill terror kingpin Kachalla Maidawa, neutralize 35

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully killed the notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Maidawa along with 35 other insurgents during cordinated operations across the country from September 29 to October 4.

According to a source at the Army Headquarters, the troops also rescued 22 kidnapped victims, arrested 32 criminal suspects, and recovered significant amounts of weapons and logistics materials.

In Kogi State, soldiers from Operation Egwu Eke Atite III, working alongside the Nigerian Navy, DSS, Police, and other forces, foiled a planned terrorist attack on Isanlu, Yagba West Local Government Area. The forces engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing more than 12 insurgents including Maidawa, who was responsible for violent raids in Kogi and Kwara States.

Recovered from the terrorists were an AK-47 rifle, 400 rounds of ammunition, motorcycles, and other weapons.

In Kebbi State, troops ambushed terrorists along a key road in Ngaski Local Government Area, killing two insurgents and rescuing eight hostages. They also seized ammunition and motorcycles during the operation.

In Kaduna State, a ransom delivery involving motorcycles meant for bandits was thwarted, rescuing five hostages and arresting kidnappers carrying ransom money.

Follow-up raids led to the neutralization of accomplices attempting to evade arrest in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.The Northeast also witnessed military action as troops ambushed ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Bama, Borno State, killing five militants.

In the Southeast, troops under Operation Udo Ka stormed IPOB/ESN hideouts in Abia and Imo States, arresting suspected kidnappers and killing a notorious ESN fighter. Charges included involvement in the abduction and killing of the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal Polytechnic, Afikpo. In the South-South region, soldiers destroyed illegal oil-refining sites in Rivers and Bayelsa States and arrested 14 suspected drug peddlers working with the NDLEA.

The public is encouraged to support the military by providing credible information to help track down remaining insurgents
