Leader of the UK Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has launched a new immigration policy aimed at detaining and deporting 150,000 illegal migrants each year through her Radical Borders Plan unveiled today, Sunday.
Badenoch described the proposed reforms as the toughest Britain has ever seen, introducing a new Removals Force modelled after the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement to replace the current Home Office Immigration Enforcement.
The plan is meant to overhaul border enforcement by banning asylum claims from illegal entrants, repealing the Human Rights Act, and withdrawing the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights.
Badenoch criticised previous Conservative and Labour governments for their handling of immigration, accusing Labour of presiding over record illegal crossings and misusing billions on asylum accommodations.
She outlined that over 50,000 illegal arrivals and 32,000 asylum seekers in hotels had strained public resources.Under the new framework, all illegal arrivals are to be deported within one week, with legal obstacles to mass deportation removed and visa sanctions imposed on countries refusing repatriation.
The Removals Force will have sweeping powers, including the use of facial recognition technology without prior warning, to identify undocumented migrants.
