The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kaduna State Wing, has given the state government a 21-day ultimatum to implement the new N72,000 minimum wage or face industrial action.
Speaking at a press conference held today, 2nd October, 2025, at the Teachers’ House in Kaduna, the State Chairman of NUT, Comrade Ibrahim Dalhatu, said the union’s decision followed the government’s continued delay in implementing the agreed wage.
He explained that despite several appeals and expectations, teachers in the state were yet to receive the new minimum wage as agreed upon and approved by the state government since November, 2024.
We have waited long enough. If the Kaduna State Government fails to implement the N72,000 minimum wage within 21 days, we will have no choice but to withdraw our services – Dalhatu
The union said it had exhausted all diplomatic channels and hoped the government would act soonest to avoid disruption in schools across the state.
The NUT called on stakeholders and the public to hold the government accountable and urged teachers to remain united and ready for action if the deadline is not met.
