Nigerian Navy personnel attached to Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos successfully deactivated six illegal oil refining sites in Obodo Omadino community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The coordinated operations, carried out in September 2025 under Operation Delta Sanity II, resulted in the seizure of about 11,550 litres of stolen crude oil from multiple refining locations.
Navy Capt. Ikenna Okoloagu, Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, disclosed the details during a press briefing in Warri on Sunday. According to Capt. Okoloagu, the dismantling of these illegal sites was made possible through credible intelligence and the strategic drive led by Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, to clamp down on economic saboteurs threatening Nigeria’s oil industry.
The operations were conducted in phases. On September 3, three illegal sites were dismantled, recovering 2,850 litres of stolen crude oil stored in 11 dugout pits. Another site was taken down on September 9, yielding 2,000 litres. On September 14 two additional sites were dismantled, with 3,400 litres recovered. Finally, on September 24, the last site yielded 3,950 litres along with some refining equipment.
