Kogi University has announced that students who fail to settle their tuition and other school fees will be barred from writing exams for the 2025/2026 academic session, introducing a strict “no payment, no examination” policy effective immediately.
The Registrar, Professor Samuel Ayuba, of Kogi University confirmed that a huge number of students have yet to clear their outstanding fees despite multiple reminders issued since the start of the semester. The university stressed that this measure is necessary to uphold institutional financial stability and academic standards.
Professor Ayuba explained that over 3,000 students are at risk of exclusion from the first semester examinations if they do not either complete their payments or access the available student loan facilities. The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) continues to offer loans to eligible students to ease the financial burden said.
The atmosphere on campus is tense but orderly as staff work to publish the final list of defaulters for public awareness. Department heads and faculty members have also been directed to encourage students to take advantage of the loan scheme or pay outstanding balances.
Examinations for the 2025/2026 first semester are set to begin next Monday, with the final defaulter list to be published this week. Those affected are encouraged to act swiftly to avoid being barred.
