Security operatives in Kano State have confiscated suspected narcotics valued at approximately N82.7 million, following an operation on September 20, 2025. The case led to the detention of a 19-year-old individual linked to the illegal substances.
The Kano State Police Command, acting on valuable intelligence, conducted a successful raid at Rimin Auzinawa Quarters where a suspicious vehicle loaded with cartons of contraband was discovered. Officers quickly secured the site, detaining Usman Umar, who is believed to be involved in the illicit trade. A thorough search of the premises resulted in the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets, totaling 60,300 units and valued at N60.3 million.
Additionally, law enforcement retrieved 299 packets of alleged Pregabalin capsules, comprising 44,850 pieces with an estimated worth of N22.4 million. Altogether, the haul was worth an estimated N82.7 million.
Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa stated that the arrested individual is cooperating with the authorities as they work to dismantle the network responsible for this criminal activity. The Commander of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the community for their alertness and reiterated the force’s plan to eradicating drug trafficking in Kano. He called on citizens to maintain their vigilance and assured that information shared will be handled promptly and confidentially.
