The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially announced reduced costs for pilgrims joining the 2026 Hajj season. The new fees vary regionally, offering relief compared to last year’s charges.

After initially proposing a tentative fare of N8.5 million last month, the commission finalized the payment structure following consultations with key stakeholders including state leaders and approval from the Federal Government. Pilgrims departing from the Maiduguri-Yola Zone, which covers Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba States, will now pay approximately N8.1 million. Those coming from other northern states are expected to contribute N8.24 million, while travelers from southern regions face a charge of about N8.56 million.

Professor Abdullahi Sale Usman, Chairman and CEO of NAHCON, emphasized that this adjustment results in an average saving of two hundred thousand naira per pilgrim compared to last year’s fees. The commission’s delegation, currently in Saudi Arabia, has recently signed contracts with the 2026 Hajj Service Provider Company, Mashareeq Al-Zahabiyya, and the transportation firm Daleel Al-Ma’aleem, ensuring smooth logistics for participants.

Prospective pilgrims have been reminded to finalize their payments before the December 31, 2025 deadline to secure their bookings.

Professor Usman noted,

In contrast to the previous season, we have managed to ease the financial burden on pilgrims by lowering the overall costs…our agreements with service and transport providers guarantee quality arrangements for the upcoming pilgrimage

NAHCON encourages all intending pilgrims to complete registration promptly to avoid last-minute complications.
