The Jigawa State Executive Council, led by Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, sanctioned funding exceeding N2.5 billion on September 22, 2025, for a series of ventures aimed at strengthening education, farming, and clean energy across the state.
Among the allocated resources, nearly N870 million will upgrade seven model Tsangaya schools, erect 30 recitation halls, and provide 30 reading shades to enrich Islamic learning for Almajiri pupils. An additional sum of N1.54 billion has been designated as bursary allowances to assist 22,388 students attending 83 tertiary institutions nationwide.
The council also committed N835 million toward enhancing the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, a scheme tailored to skill youth for better job prospects and economic development. Further funding of N779.2 million is allocated for procuring teaching materials and facilitating mobility for supervisory activities across all 27 local government areas.
In the agricultural sector, a subsidy of N396 million will support the Federal Government’s fertilizer distribution. This includes 12,000 bags of NPK fertilizer priced at N33,000 each, aimed at helping small-scale farmers and increasing crop yields.
For energy solutions, the council endorsed N733.1 million for a comprehensive technical review and blueprinting of rooftop solar panel installations at public institutions like schools and hospitals through the State Interventions Solar Solution program. This endeavour targets key facilities to promote sustainable power sources.
To promote financial inclusion further, plans were approved to open five microfinance banks in Birniwa, Gujungu (Taura), Guri, Gwaram, and Kaugama local government areas.
