No fewer than 40 Muslim worshippers were forcibly taken by armed bandits during early morning prayers at the Gidan Turbe village mosque in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Community members reported that the attackers struck at about 5:30 a.m., encircling the mosque and seizing the worshippers at gunpoint. The victims were later moved into the surrounding forests near the Gohori axis of Tsafe.

Meanwhile, soldiers involved in Operation Fasin Yamma (OPFY) successfully thwarted multiple terrorist assaults across Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara States.

In Katsina State, personnel from the 17 Brigade FOB Mabai intercepted insurgents near Gatakawa village, recovering a motorcycle and a mobile phone. In Danmusa, troops responded to an ambush against Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officials but sadly, one officer later succumbed to gunshot wounds.

In Kebbi State, forces from the 8 Division Garrison confronted militants at Ungushi village in Kebbe LGA, compelling them to retreat. A civilian injured during the attack was rushed to Kebbe General Hospital. In Augie LGA, combined troops and NSCDC members reacted to an incident in Tunga Dade, where assailants made off with a motorcycle before fleeing.

Zamfara’s 1 Brigade Team 7, while patrolling Mararaba Kyeware, came under attack close to Kuka village. Two soldiers were wounded and evacuated first to Tsafe General Hospital before being transferred to 1 Brigade Medical Centre for further care.

Military operations remain active in the area, even as discussions with select armed factions are cautiously pursued.
