The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, announced that Kebbi State has received the largest share of the Renewed Hope Agenda’s benefits under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with government expenditure reaching N1.8 trillion on various development schemes across the state.

Speaking on Friday during an inspection visit to the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway site in Gulumbe town, Umahi revealed that the expansive road, stretching 258 kilometres through Kebbi, is the country’s biggest infrastructure project in any state.
He further explained that the first 50-kilometre phase of the highway is targeted for completion and commissioning by May 2026, with 150 kilometres expected to be finished before year’s end.

The minister confirmed that the president has given full approval for compensation payments related to land acquired from local communities and private owners to facilitate the project.

Nonetheless, Umahi stressed that payments will commence only after beneficiaries establish bank accounts, as the federal government aims to ensure transparency and proper tracking of funds.

Umahi also praised Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris for his contributions toward security and agricultural self-sufficiency, emphasizing collaboration between federal and state authorities in providing personnel and logistical support to protect the highway.
