The Qatari government has enforced stricter visa rules for Nigerian travellers, barring men from entering unless accompanied by their families. This new policy, effective immediately, targets both tourist and transit visas, affecting all current and future applications.
In a recent announcement shared by online travel agency TravelTank, Qatar’s Interior Ministry outlined a series of changes designed to address immigration abuses and improve compliance with international travel protocols. Under this new regulation, Nigerian men cannot independently apply for tourist or transit visas unless they are part of a family group.
The restrictions specify that only women or family units may seek visas without accompaniment. Applicants must also arrange accommodation exclusively in five-star hotels prior to visa processing.
Adding to the requirements, travellers must now present a confirmed return transfer booking along with their hotel reservation. These measures extend not only to new visa requests but also to those still awaiting approval.
Officials explained this campaign aims to discourage overstays and visa violations that have reportedly increased among Nigerian nationals in Qatar.
