The NNPC reduced petrol prices to N910 per litre in Abuja, effective May 13, 2025, offering relief amid economic hardship.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) announced a reduction in petrol pump prices to N910 per litre in Abuja, effective Tuesday, May 13, 2025. The price cut, confirmed by NNPC Retail Management, aims to ease the financial burden on Nigerians facing rising living costs.
The new price, down from N937 per litre, applies to NNPC retail stations and is expected to influence other marketers. In Lagos, prices dropped to N897 per litre, reflecting regional adjustments based on distribution costs. The NNPC attributed the reduction to improved supply from the Dangote Refinery.
Motorists and commuters in Abuja welcomed the news, though some expressed skepticism about its sustainability. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) urged members to comply with the new pricing.
The price slash follows public outcry over fuel scarcity and high costs, with the NNPC pledging to maintain steady supply and affordability.
