The Nigerian Army has successfully dismantled a kidnapping syndicate in Kano State, rescuing an abducted victim and neutralising two suspects during a gun battle.
The joint operations also led to the recovery of a ₦10 million ransom previously paid by the family of the victim.
Troops of the 3 Brigade, operating under Operation MESA, launched the attack in Falgore Forest area of Doguwa Local Government Area, collaborating with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local hunters.
The rescued victim, identified as Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu, was abducted on October 11, 2026, at Fanyabo Village while returning from the Yandoka Market in Kaduna State. After the abduction, the kidnappers contacted his family in Yan Taburmi Village to demand ransom.
The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for the 3 Brigade, Major Babatunde Zubairu, stated that the troops during an intelligent led operation, overcame the kidnappers in a serious gun battle.
“The operation resulted in the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers and the successful rescue of the victim, while other members of the kidnapping syndicate fled towards Falgore Forest.”
The military stated that the rescued victim has been reunited with his family, and the recovered ransom returned in full.
The Commander of the 3 Brigade, Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, commended the joint forces for their firepower and professionalism. He promised that the military will not rest while armed gangs threaten everyday citizens, urging locals to keep trusting the troops with vital information so they can protect the region together.
