Nigeria captain and midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is officially ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final against host nation Morocco. The Besiktas player faces a one-match suspension after a second yellow card during Nigeria’s 2-0 quarter-final victory over Algeria.

‎Ndidi received a yellow card for time-wasting in the 67th minute of Saturday’s match against Algeria, which was his second booking of the knockout stages. Under AFCON regulations, two yellow cards at the knockout phase trigger an automatic one-match ban.

‎Ndidi also sustained a hamstring injury moments after his booking. The midfielder was substituted in the 69th minute after a challenge outside the penalty area.

‎Ndidi has been the defensive anchor of the Super Eagles team, providing defensive stability and leadership throughout the tournament. His absence will leave a void.

‎The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Morocco on Wednesday, January 14, at 9:00 PM at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. A win would place them in the final against either Senegal or Egypt.
