The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has returned to Nigeria after spending his vacation in the United Arab Emirates.
His Chief of Staff, Malam Muhammad Garba, confirmed that Ganduje would proceed to Abuja to begin meetings with party leaders and regional stakeholders and also prepare to welcome defecting members formerly into the APC.
Ganduje is also kick-starting consultations to manage the transition of top defectors, including potentially Governor Yusuf and several state lawmakers.
Dawn Herald gathered that the sitting Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has finalized plans to leave the NNPP, the party led by his political mentor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to join the ruling APC.
The rift between Governor Yusuf and his mentor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has reportedly pushed the governor toward the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ganduje will also participate in the ongoing APC nationwide electronic membership registration (e-registration), a modernizing initiative he pioneered to secure the database of the party.
