A cholera outbreak in Chanchangi, Takum Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba State, has claimed the lives of at least 10 children. The epidemic, which reportedly began on Tuesday, January 6, rapidly spread among children aged between 4 and 10, who according to eyewitness reports, initially suffered from sudden abdominal pain and vomiting.
Within just 48 hours of the first reported cases, ten children succumbed to the waterborne disease. Eyewitnesses described a fast progression, with the victims showing severe symptoms of gastroenteritis shortly before passing away.

The Taraba State Ministry of Health, led by Commissioner Dr. Bodiya Buma, has dispatched a team of medical personnel and epidemiologists to the area to establish an isolation and oral rehydration center to treat the infected and prevent further fatalities.
