Two Chinese nationals working on an infrastructural project and six local farmers were recently abducted in separate attacks in Kwara State.

The two Chinese workers were reportedly kidnapped by gunmen from a BUA road construction site in the Kwara North Senatorial District on December 1, 2025.
According to reports, masked gunmen attacked the site, which is near the villages of Bielesin/Fallah and Olokiti, firing sporadic shots for 2 to 3 hours before seizing the victims.

‎The incident follows another mass abduction of six farmers in the Lata community of Patigi Local Government Area.

‎Kwara State, which connects the South-West and North-Central geopolitical zones, has experienced an increase in banditry and kidnapping for ransom in recent months.

‎Just last month 38 worshippers were kidnapped from a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, though they were later rescued by security operatives.

‎Also in November, 11 residents, including women and children, were abducted from the Isapa community in the Ekiti Local Government Area.

‎These repeated attacks have made residents lose hope in the government and the security forces regarding their safety. Meanwhile, the Police authorities have countlessly urged residents to keep their hope alive and be relentless in providing credible information about these criminal elements, to help the fight against terrorism and to make the state a safe haven.
