A female soldier, Corporal Marian Agumba, has released an emotional viral video accusing senior officers of the Nigerian Army of sexual harassment, assault, unlawful detention, and threats against her and her child.

‎Corporal Agumba outlined several severe allegations of abuse and institutional harassment in her video appeal.

‎She stated that she has faced constant frustration, intimidation, and victimization because she refused sexual advances from officers, noting that refusal was interpreted as “arrogance.”

Despite her voluntary discharge being approved in July 2025, she claims her ordeal continued. She alleged that officers locked her up in a guard room with her then two-year-old child and ordered a private soldier to assault both of them.

Following the alleged assault, Agumba claims she was falsely charged for the same assault, accused of threatening a senior officer, and escaping confinement. Subsequently, she was deranked from Corporal to Lance Corporal.

She specifically named two senior officers, Lieutenant Colonel Osarema and Lieutenant Colonel Nkanan, alleging they ordered and supervised her assault and subsequent punishment.

She is currently facing threats from an officer named Major Monday that her discharge certificates will be revoked and her entitled gratuity and financial benefits will be stopped by the new Army leadership.

Had it been I have contacts or I have been sleeping around the way officers want me to be sleeping with them, they wouldn’t have been doing all the things they have been doing to me – Corporal Agumba

‎Corporal Agumba is seeking proper justice and help from the highest levels of government and military leadership. She reiterated that she is “done being strong” and fears for her life and the security of her granted discharge.
