Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara, 83, has been re-elected for a fourth term in office, winning the presidential election held on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The electoral commission announced on Monday that Ouattara secured 89.77% of the vote.

The election saw over nine million eligible voters across Ivory Coast participate in an atmosphere largely free from the coups and jihadist violence that have affected other parts of West Africa.

The high percentage secured by the incumbent follows the exclusion of major opposition candidates, including former President Laurent Gbagbo and Tidjane Thiam, who were barred on grounds of a criminal conviction and dual citizenship, respectively. The absence of these prominent challengers significantly shaped the electoral landscape.

The commission chairman, Ibrahime Kuibiert Coulibaly, confirmed a 50.10 percent voter turnout, consistent with the 2020 election, where Ouattara won 94 percent following an opposition boycott. Meanwhile, entrepreneur Jean-Louis Billon finished second with 3.09 percent.
